Hi, I am Cherry Carter; thank you for visiting my website. This is an introduction about how I came to work with Reiki and energy healing, which is a wonderful non-invasive way of enabling self-healing for both people and animals.
Pronounced ray-key, Reiki is a Japanese complementary therapy founded by Mikao Usui in the early part of the 20th Century and is one of the world’s most popular complementary therapies.
I found Reiki after having worked in the corporate world for too long and experiencing ‘burn-out’. I knew that I had to address my health as my body had said ‘enough is enough’ and I felt that my career/lifestyle wasn’t serving my needs.
I already believed in alternative health therapies such as Acupuncture and Homeopathy for both people and animals and after some research, I came across a website about animal healing.
The Healing Animals Organisation (H.A.O.) was founded by Elizabeth Whiter; I attended a one year Diploma with the H.A.O. and successfully graduated in February 2021. It was a life changing experience for me; working with amazing animals and compassionate people, some of whom I am now lucky to call my friends.
There were parallels in some of this work that reminded me of my acupuncture days: the focus on nature, meditation and the study of illness (both physically and mentally). When our minds and bodies out of balance dis-ease occurs. Being in touch with nature is key to all forms of energy healing. I knew then that my new vocation in life would be in service - with healing work - for animals and for people.
I then trained in person with Emma Penman in Reiki and obtained my first degree (2021) and second degree (2022) to enable me to work as a Practitioner. Emma’s wealth of knowledge and experience across many disciplines of healing work, brought me on further with my own spiritual journey.
I also trained on-site with Sarah Berrisford of the Epona Equine Reiki Centre in Lincolnshire and achieved my Advanced Equine Reiki Practitioner status in 2022. Sarah works with her sister Vicky and I thoroughly enjoyed my time with them. Working with Horses is wonderful; they don’t mess about but instead, look right into your soul and make clear connections.
All of these experiences were life changing for me and I am so pleased that I have taken this route as it was meant to be and the people and animals that I have met and continue to meet in the world of healing, are absolutely amazing.
I hope you are still with me? I believe that it is important for you to know why I do this work, in service: it is my vocation and I am thrilled to be here and be in a position to channel healing in order to help others, as well as guide my own life.
